The German Cycling Association (ZIV) has announced its withdrawal from Eurobike 2026

The German Cycling Association (ZIV) has announced its withdrawal from Eurobike 2026

The ZIV and industry advocacy group Zukunft Fahrrad recently announced the termination of their partnership with Eurobike, Europe's largest bike trade show, and will not participate in the 2026 event. This decision casts a shadow over the future of this industry event.

The main reason for the breakdown in cooperation is the failure of both parties to reach a consensus on the future direction of the show. After the 2024 show, ZIV and Zukunft Fahrrad, along with their members, conducted an in-depth joint assessment and jointly developed a "Ten-Point Reform Plan for Eurobike 2026." However, negotiations with the show's organizer, Fairnamic, ultimately failed. ZIV stated that it failed to see an equal level of commitment from the two shareholders of the organizer to support necessary reforms essential for adapting the show to the future of the bike industry. Zukunft Fahrrad also believed that its proposed adjustments to the show's structure and content lacked feasibility.

Eurobike has announced that its 2026 event will be presented as two separate exhibitions with distinct themes, simultaneously catering to the needs of both traditional cycling and the rapidly growing mobility sector—a significant transformation in itself. However, the loss of support from these two major German industry organizations undoubtedly makes the event's future more uncertain.

ZIV has approximately 140 member companies in Germany and internationally, representing companies that produce about 90% of Germany's bikes and e-bikes annually, while Zukunft Fahrrad has about 100 member companies, including retailers, suppliers, and manufacturers. Representatives of the German associations expressed regret but remained firm in their stance, emphasizing that it was a joint decision made after careful consideration, aimed at creating a clear future for all parties.
